Solar batteries

Solar batteries in solar energy systems are responsible for preserving power until it is used during times when the sun sets.
It is preferable to store batteries in a place with a moderate temperature, as high temperatures negatively affect the lifespan of the battery. It is also preferable to store them on an insulated surface such as wood.
To ensure the safety of the batteries, the voltage and amperage output from them are measured.

The life of a battery is measured by its number of cycles, that is, the number of times it can be charged and discharged.
There are two main types of batteries that can be used in the field of solar energy:
Flooded lead batteries are abbreviated FLA.
Non-flooded batteries, abbreviated VPLA. There are three types of them, Which: Wet type battery, AGM battery, GEL battery.

Flooded lead batteries: These are batteries that are completely immersed in an electrolytic liquid
When dealing with this type, you must be very careful and careful because it may release explosive hydrogen gas
Therefore, you must take into account the cleanliness of the place surrounding the battery in terms of the presence of flammable materials
These batteries are among the oldest and most widely used types due to their cheap price.
Flooded batteries: This type differs in that it does not contain internal liquid and is not refillable
It does not require maintenance and is safer than the previous type, and the risk of explosion is low because it does not release hydrogen gas

The three types

The first type is wet batteries, which are mostly used for navigation purposes and come in a relatively small size and economical price.
The life of these batteries is approximately 500 cycles if a 50% discharge factor is used.
The second type is AGM batteries. This type is characterized by fast charging and its ability to withstand high current. It also contains liquid, like flooded batteries.
The third type, which is the best in the field of solar energy, is Gel batteries
It is considered the best type in terms of efficiency and longevity, and its price is affordable and it contains internally a gel material that helps make it less fluid and more consistent.
The last type is lithium-ion batteries, which are rarely used due to their very high price
The most important thing that distinguishes it is its long lifespan. The lithium battery can last up to 10,000 cycles when using a 100% discharge factor.
Which makes it the best at this point, and also in terms of efficiency, this battery is considered the best, but as we mentioned, what prevents it from being used frequently is its very high price.
